Reports of 13 killed as Seqiz joins other Kurdish cities in protest [Update]

London (KurdishMedia.com) 03 August 2005: On Wednesday, the residents of the Kurdish city of Seqiz in Eastern Kurdistan organised a peaceful protest to support the massive protests of other parts of Eastern Kurdistan that have been raging on for the past weeks against the Iranian state.
According to the information that has reached KurdishMedia.com from local sources, clashes erupted between the protestors and Iranian security forces resulting in tens of Kurdish protestors being killed.
The protests in Seqiz were concentrated in the Meyidani Helo, Bergerej and Xiyabani Shanaz, KurdishMedia.com was told.
There have been reports that in total 13 protesters were killed but KurdishMedia.com has so far not been able to establish the exact number of protestors killed.
KurdishMedia.com has obtained the names of four of the Seqiz protestors killed and they are:
Newzad Muhemedi
Muhemedi Shariyeti
Abasi Remezanzade
Abasi Keleyi
Mr. Shariyeti was a retired teacher and was shot in the head and Mr. Keleyi owned a local shop selling sweets, KurdishMedia.com has learnt.
Locals KurdishMedia.com has been in contact with have also said that hundreds of protestors were detained during the protests.
KurdishMedia.com has also received reports of 5 more people being killed in clashes with the Iranian authorities in Shino and 2 in Baneh.
