(PDM staff with CTK) 27 July - A demonstration against Turkey's entry to the European Union will be staged in Prague's Wenceslas Square on Friday by the Voice for Europe international civic initiative, Jana Kaderabkova from the initiative told CTK yesterday.

Czech members of the European Parliament Josef Zieleniec and Tomas Zatloukal (both Association of Independent Candidates, SNK) are to take part in the protest, according to its organisers.

Since May, the Voice for Europe organisation has been collecting signatures for a petition against Turkey's EU entry in several European Union countries, including the Czech Republic.

So far, about 30,000 people have signed the petition, including 11,000 from the Czech Republic, Kaderabkova said.

The participants in the Friday demonstration plan to stage a march from Wenceslas Square to the Government Office, where they intend to hand the petition and an open letter to PM Jiri Paroubek (senior government CSSD), the organisers told CTK.

A June demonstration against the accession of Turkey to the European Union, which was staged by Voice for Europe outside the Turkish embassy in Prague, was attended by some 50 people.

In their speeches, they pointed out that Turkish EU membership would not only harm the EU, but Turkey itself.

They said that although Turkey has made progress in its path to democracy, it still violates human rights and its cultural and religious roots are too different from EU countries'.

Citing a high-ranking EU diplomat, the Reuters agency reported on Monday that Turkey would sign a protocol on Wednesday on expanding its relations with the EU to include its new member countries, including Cyprus, which is the last condition for the start of EU accession talks in October.

i read in news:

turkey not accept the cyprus as EU member. so EU not accept turkey to talk about the join to EU. :-) and if all gone ok. the GETTO will be placed by CYPRUS. they will never leave them to join. to join turkey to EU, must all countries say yes. if 1 say no... then is NO. maybe turkey can prepare for 15 years to join in EU, but after all that years will happen the elections, so Europe can use turkey for 15 years then when they have whole access so they deny and destroy them system :-)

the days of turkey end. turkey turn bad to world, and world will soon attack. they will not attack like with airplanes, but they will eat turkey inside. i can't explain. the possible countries to deny for sure: cyprus, greece, france, netherlands, portugal. :-) deny deny! wonderful game the election searching for 1 deny! :-p

Ellinas - You know you are GREAT! Even more loyal anti-Turkish-government than any Kurd I have "met"...

And I agree - Greece and Cyprus will DEFINETLY DENY Turkey entrance into the EU!

I totally get what you mean - Europe will eat up Turkey from the inside - They will devoure the system slowly and turn it into the nothingness it once was...

I am sure the EU is just using Turkey - Which is GREAT news!

yes is sure the game of europe on turkey.

take a look:

till before some months all EU members accept turkey to talk, as is in by the freedom of democrasy right. only Greece deny turkey. till the game change. cuz europe want to show that there are no problems and continue the game, turn greece like ok for turkey to join to make diplomaty for cyprus. then france time come to turn deny. after all i see slowly that portugal deny turkey... and when the turkey accept cyprus as EU member, the last hit will have it from there... the game will over in cyprus. they will accept cyprus as EU member so Cyprus can VOTE to deny turkey who they sure deny turkey. so at end... Turkey and after deny if try to join EU, they have already accept Cyprus as a member of EU, so the other side... turkey have it illegal. so to start now to talk about cyprus, turkey must leave it back to greeks.

at end the ANAN try to make country the cyprus whole for turkey, thats why greeks deny. and turkey don't accept cyprus as EU member cuz if they accept then that turn back to themself. ;-)

if you continue to think that, and if sure understand my english... sure you can find more and more about it.

we want turkey to become part of europe. if it does that means 20 million kurds will be european citizens, and will have much much more influence in turkey and the middle east.

Please talk for yourself Mosul... There is no "we" here - every man has his oppinion... And I think that if Northern Kurdistan joins EU it will be litterally sucked empty of all resources and they will destroy more of our Kurdistans soile and nature... And Kurds can FOREVER forget that Northern Kurdistan will be a part of greater Kurdistan... You are much better at Southern Kurdish issues my dear friend... Northern Kurdistan is much more complicated... And although there are SOME reasons why it should join EU there are more important reasons for why it shouldn't.... I'll fill you in tomorrow - I am tired...

I agree Kurdistany...

We would only legitimize the 100 years of oppression! And accept that "Kurds" are in reality "Mountain Turks"... just like they have said for 100 years! (And they also said that the Chinese, Egyptian and Indian cultures are all branches of the Turkish culture... Do you believe that???)

if turkey joins the eu, that means that turkey would of already stopped its oppressions. why wouldnt you want 20,000,000 kurds to be part of europe?? we would have such a increase in poltical influence, being among the most powerful countrys in the would, cmon now

Mosul... I am sorry but you don't know what you are talking about... I wonder - what do you think the EU is?

The EU is mainly an economic, continental power - it has tried to form a constitution to make complete what they started (which is to erase the borders of the four goods: Labour, Money, Services and Products) - now what you are talking about is what the EU want's to be - but which the most important members DON'T want it to be - France and Holland didn't accept the constitution and more members will follow...

Now - about Kurds and EU - their relation is simple:

The EU consisting of "democratic" states - has a minimum standard for mebership, both economically and socialy. When the EU accepts new members - it is because of the EU's interests and it's gain in economy - for example Turkey. The reason Turkey is offered to join the EU is: Turkey is a growing economy and has much more potensial than most EU members to become a strong economical factor - THANKS to Kurdistan!

It is not like you seem to think (and you think - I assume - from what I read):
EU offers membership to Turkey because the EU want's to bring "democracy" to Turkey. And in doing this it would give more rights to Kurds - and in fact make Kurds a strong power to be reckoned with.

This is very wrong my brother - the VERY SECOND THAT TURKEY GET'S MEMBERSHIP it will go back to the SAME system of oppression... Because then (and I am not saying Turkey will ever completely stop oppressing) it will have gotten it's deal - and the Kurds are NOT a part of that deal...

As for "being among the most powerful countrys in the would" - will never happen - not in Turkey - in Kurdistan? YES! But not in Turkey... Say this name three times and tell me if you still think there is room for "KURDS" in " T U R K E Y "... Good luck...

The EU is like a soothing oasis for you who live in the Middle East... But you don't know half of it obviously... There are STRONG opposition parties in all European countries against the EU... Norway has historically been the strongest opposition - voting "NO!" TWICE in 10 years...

The EU is not all roses and gardens... It is a MESS for some and a blessing for others... There is never a black or white - there is only relativity...

The EU is doing a good job by not allowing savage turk in their Union, but do not trust european fags. Even Je himself was one of them.
