Pictures of Colemerg 2008

Postby nhraim » Thu Jan 29, 2009 11:16 pm

These are some photos of my visit to Colemerg, a personal rebind to history, a recognition of the staunchness of a people and to the pain that is heard in the valleys.

it's a very nice place, but the turkish media is showing it as one of the most dangerous places in kurdistan, hence the most are afraid to visit this beautiful place :?

Hi κє¢ê ∂îиê 63,

I think there are many reasons, other than the ones portrayed by media propaganda, for someone not to go there. Kurdish rebels are not fictitious, especially when you see rifle bullets cases lying on the ground when you climb mountains, and when you see anti-Turk graffiti on the walls of Nestorian churches perched on the mountains. Believe me, they're not 50 years old graffiti. Plus I have to say that you shouldn't be there (in the middle of the mountains) when a helicopter passes by, cause they shoot and don't ask what passport you have (my advice).

Beautiful pictures nhraim, can you please tell me more about the Nestorian Assyrian churches that still exist? In which area did you see these churches and if possible do you know the names? I'm very interested since my great grandparents come from that region.

Great pics!

Welcome back, Shlama_98!
The only Nestorian church I know of is Mar Shalita that's located at Qodshanes.
